The unconditional love of an animal is one of the best feelings, second only to a child. An animal will bring years of happiness, laughs, kiss, hugs, and love. When it comes time to add a furry 4-legged pet to a family, adopting from a local animal shelter is a better option instead of buying from a private breeder. An animal adopted from a local animal shelter obtains a second chance of life instead of dying like the three million euthanized animals. Adoptions gives an animal a second chance at life, find a forever home and helps with the control of animal overpopulation. When puppies are mast produced in a â€Å"puppy mill,† there is a higher chance of diseases like, epilepsy, heart disease, kidney disease, musculoskeletal disease, endocrine disorders, blood disorders, deafness, eye problems, and respiratory disorders. In addition, due to being bred and raised with numerous other animals, puppies often arrive to their new home or pet shop with parvo, distemper, kennel cough, mange, pneumonia, fleas, ticks or heartworm. Adopting an animal that which has already been spayed or neutered, society is helping control the overpopulation of animals in the USA. Another benefit to adopting, instead of buying is animal that are bred over and over again, usually are mated with an offspring, which creates inbreeding and animals with bloodlines that are inbred display behavioral and temperament issues. Breeder’s vs Puppy Mills There is a difference between responsible breeders and puppy mills.
